DOGGIE WINTER WEATHER TIPS:

• Get a check up from your vet to check for any medical
conditions that will affect your dog in the cold

• Limit the time she spends outdoors

• Keep in mind - smaller dogs, puppies, older dogs and dogs with
medical conditions are more vulnerable to the cold

• Watch your dog carefully while walking him in the snow and in very cold weather

• Keep your dog on the leash near an open body of water

• Keep an eye on your dog near space heaters and fireplaces

• Get a carbon monoxide detector –
dogs are more vulnerable to carbon monoxide poisoning than humans

• When they come inside, wipe their paw pads with a warm cloth

• Always check that your dogs outdoor water bowl is not frozen

• Sweaters may help some – but your dog looses most of her body
heat from the pads of her feet, ears, and her respiratory tract.

• Keep an eye out for signs of discomfort – shivering, weakness, etc.
If he displays these signs, bring him indoors, wrap him in a warm
blanket and have him checked out by a veterinarian

• Finally – enjoy the season with your furry friend!!
